Day 3: Referral appointments, notary, received referral documents, train ride
It started out as a normal day...then there was a change of plans, a very good one!
Our driver picked us up and we headed to our referral appointment. It was easy-breezy, we looked at Valentin's file and received 2 younger pictures of him. We learned his given name, his birth place, his birth parents' names, and as far as we know he does not have any siblings (that his birth parents reported anyway). The adoption officials asked us what we did and why we wanted to adopt a special needs child. They looked at the photo book we made and that was it. We figured that we would pick up our referral documents tomorrow and then sometime over the weekend we would be taking a train to Valentin's region and would meet him Monday.
Because of something else we are working on here, there is a national holiday coming up that would delay our adoption plans by 2 weeks. It's all very confusing and I will write about it soon. Our amazing team here in country worked very hard to work everything out so that we would not lose any time during the holiday. I promise I will explain everything later, but all of this means that we will be boarding an overnight train tonight and......
WE WILL BE MEETING VALENTIN TOMORROW!!!!
I say it all the time but it never stops being true...God is so good!!!!
We wanted to take pictures at the appointment but things got so crazy and we spent most of the day running around that we took zero pictures today. So worth it if we get to see our boy tomorrow!!!
Can't wait to hear about meeting Valentin for the first time.Keeping you and your family in prayer!~Amy
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting that you will be meeting Valentin tomorrow. We adopted from this same orphanage in Dec. 2010. The team there is awesome. They will take great care of you. Enjoy your train ride. I will be praying that your first meeting goes well.
