Prayer for Pediatrician visit

Just a quick prayer request if you all would be so kind :-)

The boys will see our Pediatrician tomorrow and will also get blood work done.  Please join us in praying that God will ease their little hearts and minds because it will be so scary for them.  We are getting an interpreter for Joey so that we and the doctor can explain what is going on, even then I am sure it is going to be overwhelming.  For Valentin though it is going to be very rough because he will not understand at all why he is getting poked and prodded.  I honestly have no idea how we are going to be able to draw blood from him, he is so strong!

We are trusting God and appreciate the prayers.  Thank you all so much again!!!!

  1. Will do! That does sound like a rough day! Taking any little ones (especially sensitive ones) to get needles is traumatic for kids and mom...never mind your boys who will so easily be terrified. Praying courage for you and them!

  3. I think that the more you carefully, truthfully explain things to Valentin, he will understand and will trust you. My belief is that the mind and the brain are not the same. People haven't given him a chance to make the mind- brain connection and be able to respond much. You have already seen him be responsive- appropriately so. He'll be glad you took the extra time to use the interpreter with him too :)

  4. I will pray.

He already trusts you, and having you nearby will mean a lot, I think.

I'm so rejoicing to see him HOME!!

  5. My dad had an idea- Jamie, you could have a little blood drawn first, as Valentin watches. I'm thinking that, even if it does hurt him, he'll know that you went through it, too. He'll know that he wasn't alone in the experience.

  6. so glad for you all to be taking these good, needed steps!

i also wondered why valentin would not also have an interpreter. i believe you indicated that he did respond to his native language spoken by the orphanage staff, etc...and he certainly seems bright enough in the videos!!

i also like the idea that the kids could watch you get a bit of blood drawn...but that may not be possible...

best wishes to you all. thank you again for sharing the progress!

  8. In the past we've used sheets to wrap our child to make taking blood easier, she is a cancer child so knew how it all worked.
