No place like home

Sorry for the late post.  We are home and are doing well I just have not had much spare time to blog...imagine that :-)  We are really doing well, I am not just saying that.  There are struggles, tears, and stress but overall things are going SO MUCH BETTER then I expected, I am so very grateful!  I want to write so much about the trip home, the airport welcome, the generosity of people giving meals, new routines, funny stories about the kids and the things they say and do, and how well the boys are doing...but I really just don't have the time right now.  I am sure you all understand :-)  I will come back and write more but I thought I could at least share some pictures and video.

  3. Welcome home....neighbor?! My sons are from Eastern Europe as well (1 as recently as December). Been reading the blog for a while and just saw your homecoming video....it HAS to be our airport. Would LOVE to bring you some meals or anything else helpful. What's the best way to reach you without putting our info out there fore all to see? Maybe our homestudy agency? God bless!

  11. The love for one another, and the joy in each others' presence which your children feel comes right through the computer screen! What sweethearts! And what a wonderful forever family for Daniel and Dima to join (and what wonderful boys to join your family, too!). Your children just shine, all of them...

  13. Oh my, I just teared up to hear Valentin say "Hi!" and "Yay!" His attention and gestures and sounds have been SO alert and intentional, I've been expecting speech -- but NOT this soon. And sitting up -- himself -- independently -- WOW!
By the way, I bet that orphanage director got mad when he found out you were adopting Valentin -- because he'd written him off at some time in the past.

  16. God is sooo good. Valentin--it does my heart good to see him. This is the kid they said was unresponsive and uninvolved? He and Joey will both blossom beyond anyone's expectations. Miracles abound!

  20. Dear Jamie and Tyler, if you guys had time to blog I would be seriously feeling totally embarrassed by my overwhelm at raising just two little ones! Five kids! You guys seriously have your hands full.

Praise god...what a blessed and beautiful beginning to this new part of your collective family journey. The boys look so good and while I believe you when you write that there have been moments of stress (I think we ALL believe you!!) how wonderful to see those boys moving around, being praised and loved and having two parents and grandparents and siblings to whom they can attach over time.

Prayers continue to stream to your family. I have thought often since Thursday about all of you and prayed that this transition has enough moments to give you hope and confirmation that you went where God commanded you and you are all right where you are supposed to be.

    Much love, Jane

  22. What wonderful pictures and video! Little Emma is so adorable! So proud of "Valentin" and "Joey" and their amazing progress after less than a week home where they belong. I can hardly wait for the next blog post! Praying that you will have grace and blessing as you continue to tackle the hard issues. Your thankful heart and joy in the Lord is carrying you through.

  23. Where to even begin!!??? There is SO MUCH wonderful stuff obvious already! Woohoo! Hearing Joey say, "Good job, buddy!" (while rolling his eyes) totally cracked me up! He's going to learn English fast! And look how much stronger Valentin is getting already! He's even starting to use his legs to help him crawl! He's going to walk and talk - I just know it. It is also so lovely to hear your delighted giggle at your beautiful children. God bless you all. Praising God that these precious little captives have been set free!

    Blessings,

  28. I know you have heard this and know this, but there is such a huge change in Valentin already! I'm sure not being on "meds" and the physical exercise and love he is getting will work wonders on him.
We have adopted internationally twice and been through the tough road of therapies. I'm also a sped teacher as well. These boys are going to do so well! Thank you for taking the step forward to free them!

  30. Oh I am so glad you all got home safely! And it is so wonderful to see both boys already doing so well at their new home. Valentin (Daniel is it now?) is already so much more mobile and flexible, he is crawling, wow!! It's amazing what a difference "real" clothes make, he looks so cool in his Jeans - way better than those onesies he always wore at the orphanage. And Joey is already speaking a bit English! I am so happy for you and wish you a lot of strength and patience and love and fun =)

My dream for Valentin has come true, too.

  34. Ah Jamie!!! I'm in tears!!! Simply amazing. Such a short time and look at how much they have both blossomed. To think what the next six months has in store is almost overwhelming. PLEASE send video and pictures back to the orphanages to show them how much potential all these children have. Just makes me smile ear to ear!! All your children are adorable I might add. What a beautiful family!! Bless you all!!

Your family is my dream for "my" Kyle. He still hasn't found a family and RR hasn't updated that he's already been transferred. :( Still praying and keeping him in my thoughts.
